22.01.2006: Alitalia (AZ/Rome Fiumicino) has won the bidding process for Volareweb.com (VA/Milan Linate). Its biggest domestic competitor Air One (AP/Rome Fiumicino) is expected to object against this court decision claiming Alitalia should not have been allowed to bid. Alitalia will resume twice weekly MD-82 services from Rome Fiumicino to Copenhagen, Dublin and Stockholm Arlanda on March 27. The last two passenger MD-11s have already been redelivered to Alitalia after freighter conversion.
03.12.2005: Volareweb.com (VA/Milan Linate) seems to attract a lot of interest among potential bidders for the carrier operating under court protection. All major Italian carriers (Air One (AP/Rome Fiumicino), Alitalia (AZ/Rome Fiumicino), Blue Panorama Airlines (BV/Rome Fiumicino), Eurofly (GJ/Milan Malpensa), Meridiana (IG/Olbia), MyAir (8I/Milan Orio al Serio) and Windjet (IV/Catania)) as well as easyJet (U2/London Luton) are reportedly planning to submit offers for the carrier and mainly its low-cost operation at Milan's slot restricted Linate airport.

Volareweb.com (VA/Venice Marco Polo) has once again announced a strategy change shortly after a new management took over responsibility over the carrier. It will start twice daily service from Naples to Catania as well as daily services from Bari to Catania and Palermo, from Bologna to Bari, Cagliari, Catania and Palermo, from Milan Malpensa to Bucharest Baneasa, from Naples to Catania and Palermo. Its Milan-Lamezia Terme service will be moved from Malpensa to Orio al Serio. Volare will however give up its routes from Bari to Barcelona, Brussels, Paris Orly and Tirana, from Cagliari to London Luton and Paris Orly, from Catania to Brussels and Paris Orly, from Milan Linate to Berlin Schönefeld, from Palermo to Paris Orly, from Rome Fiumicino to Bari, Berlin Schönefeld, Bilbao and Lamezia Terme, from Venice Marco Polo to Berlin Schönefeld, Frankfurt Hahn and Lamezia Terme. Volareweb.com has also cancelled its codeshare agreements with Air Polonia (4P/Warsaw), Hapag-Lloyd Express (X3/Cologne/Bonn) and Windjet (IV/Catania). | |

Volareweb.com (Venice Marco Polo) will launch a number of new routes between Italy and Poland in early June. It will operate four weekly flights from Milan Malpensa to Warsaw, three weekly flights from Venice Marco Polo to Warsaw and two weekly flights from Rome Fiumicino to Krakow and Warsaw. All flights will be operated using A320-200s and in codeshare with Air Polonia (APN/Warsaw) which is also starting two weekly services linking Rome Fiumicino and Warsaw on June 1 using B737-400s. Furthermore, Volareweb.com will also put its code on Air Polonia’s four times weekly Paris CDG-Warsaw service. |
